Paper maps are essential for family road trips especially if you are traveling outside of the normal cities. I also believe it is never bad to bring extra water and food just in case. You ever know if you get lose and may need to camp out for one night.

Yup! Totally agree on all of them. I would also add plenty of backseat entertainment for the kiddos, pref non-electronic. My girls love to read and draw, so we always pack a stack of (new-to-them thrift-store finds) books that we can cycle through, and a set of drawing supplies for each.

I love road trips and I understand how important it is to take care of the essentials to travel with. For example, I can’t imagine a trip without power bank. I overuse my phone so much for taking pictures and videos, I always run out of batteries. Thanks for the list of essentials you have provided. Agree with you!

I love road trips. I think except for the first one which is the infant seat, everything else is a must have during a road trip, for every one not just for families. I am planning to go on lots of road trips once the virus thing finishes, so I will make sure I have all these in my car.

As soon as we had one I became a big fan of camping, it just makes It’s a much better experience. You’ve got to have the right kind of pump though, those manual ones are a bit too much like hard work, but the ones you plug into the cigarette lighter of your car are a blessing.

Not being too much of a road traveler probably now I would become one with so much restrictions on traveling to different cities here in India and our trips abroad. I am now planning to do short 2-3 days trips to places near my city which are still unexplored. Your list is very exhaustive and most are essentials that I would keep ticking when I am about to start traveling from July.

Going on a road trip has become quite hi-tech. I swear by map apps and always have my power banks ready. The plug-in cooler is a great idea and I have recently taken my travel pillow in the car with me (it used to be only used for air travel).
