6 Ideas To Improve Your RV Decoration

By Leila Amber.

Just because you’re living in an RV doesn’t mean you have to settle on a skimpy, unorganized, and cavelike interior.

Even if you don’t have a knack for decorating, sprucing up your camper or motorhome is incredibly easy.

We’ve outlined quick, easy, and inexpensive ideas to give your RV a cozier, brighter, and stunning look.

It’s time to add some home-like style to your RV!

6 Ways To Decorate Your RV:

Start by changing its color palette.

Start by changing its color palette

You’d be surprised how simply changing the paint colors of your camper can totally change its look.

Painting is fun and incredibly easy if you have the right tools (which are pretty basic). The real struggle though is finding the perfect color palette.

If you browse online, you’ll see lots of stunning color combinations that may appeal to you.

However, you want the overall color and design of your RV Decoration to resonate with your personality.

So start by selecting your favorite color scheme.

You also want to consider colorful items you’ll be using in your RV, such as a rug or painting.

Unless you’re changing the paint of your cabinets, make sure the colors you choose also complement them.

For the walls, consider choosing colors that are light, soft, and calm. Try to stay pretty neutral on the walls and floors, so you have room to add colorful accents or decors.

Create a stylish interior through lights.

RV Lighting

Another easy way to spruce up your motorhome is by installing the right lighting systems.

Proper lighting helps create a mood in your RV interior. For example, bright or natural light encourages activity and alertness while warm lights project coziness.

Consider using a combination of these lights to create an environment that you need in specific moments.

In terms of interior design, warm lights are a must.

Consider installing light ropes or strip lights under your cabinets or bed. Lighting fixtures like solar-powered ice rocks, table-top lamps, or floor lamps can also make your RV look homier.

LED lights are recommended for motorhomes because aside from producing more light, they generate minimal heat and are incredibly long-lasting.

Consider updating your outdoor lights too. When you’re out there on the road and it’s pitch black outside, proper lighting is needed for safety purposes.

Keep it cozier with more pillows.

RV Pillows

Throw pillows and blankets can quickly add coziness and personality to your RV.

Add cute pillows to your couches, recliners, bed, and other hangout spaces. Make sure to choose designs that match your theme.

If your walls and floors have neutral hues, pillows with colorful patterns will look far-fetched stunning.

When choosing pillows for your RV Decoration, consider varying textures or patterns instead of colors.

It’s a great way to create visual interests without a mess. For example, you can create a textured palette by combining throw pillows made from wool with those made with cotton covers.

The thing about pillows is you can just easily change their covers if you start getting bored of how they look. They are an inexpensive decoration idea that’s absolutely nice to have for an RV.

Add some wall art.

6 Ideas To Improve Your RV Decoration

Hanging some wall decor can greatly spruce up your camper. While RVs tend to have limited wall space, most have open spaces that can be utilized for decorating.

Go for a lighter decor such as wall art or a picture frame and make sure to attach it securely on the wall.

You need to attach heavy objects to the studs or use anchors to keep your wall hangings in place as you encounter bumps on the road.

If you have enough space, you can also add vinyl wall sticker decals that won’t move or shake during your travels.

Have some furniture upgrade.

RV Furniture

Is your dinette set almost giving up on you? What about your chairs and recliners?

You may be in the market for some furniture replacements.

This is probably the most expensive approach to sprucing up your camper. But it’s definitely worth the investment.

To save money, start with furniture that really has to go or is completely outdated. Some items may not require replacement, just repairs. For example, dinette bench cushions can be enhanced by simply changing their covers.

If you are always taking long trips, you should seriously consider some major furniture replacements to meet your comfort and convenience needs.

When selecting new furniture, consider its design and functionality. Have a plan before you replace your RV furniture.

Each piece should work well with the others, in terms of size, design, and space. Look for sleeker designs so your RV won’t look skimpy and cluttered. Aim to buy fewer but more functional pieces.

Replace rugs and mattresses too.

Aside from your RV furniture, you should consider changing your RV mattresses too.

Great nights lead to great days, so they say. Apart from enhancing the look of your RV, a comfy mattress will also make you feel at home.

If your mattress isn’t as comfortable as it used to be, change it.

Make sure the replacement fits your RV bed. There is no standard size for RV beds, which means RV mattresses also come in various sizes. The good thing is you can have it customized.

Should you go with a thicker mattress? While it means more comfort and support, take into consideration if there are any height restrictions.

Your mattress cover is an important consideration too and will impact your interior design. Like with pillows, choose something that matches the overall theme of your

Rugs are excellent additions to your stylish camper as well. Patterned rugs are lovely to look at while sheepskin rugs can add drama and depth to your RV design. An accent rug in your indoor or outdoor lounge area can boost the overall look of your trailer.

See, improving your RV decoration shouldn’t be complicated. You don’t have to be an expert in interior decoration. There are incredibly easy ways to pull of a beautiful design, such as those listed above. A little creativity and planning can go a long way!

We have considered having an RV and doing some road trips once we get everyone out of the house. I hadn’t really thought about treating an RV as a home away from home. It would be fun to decorate it though

Lighting indeed does a lot of wonder, when it comes to setting the mood and ambiance whether it’s your home, RV, shop etc… I don’t really have an RV but perhaps, if I decide to get one, I’ll definitely be particular with lighting, paint and furniture. I’d really love it to be a bit more cozy so I’ll stuff in a lot of pillows too!

If I had an RV I would think about it as a home away from home. So would want to make sure it was decorated to reflect that. I never thought about lighting for an RV but lights and pillows can certainly make it cozier. The mattress would be my first investment. This princess is pretty picky when sleeping! I have always worried about finding great mattresses for the funny camper sizes.
