Everything in moderation. Unless it is coffee, then I tend to get excessive. My favorite part of the camping trip is waking before everybody else, making my coffee, maybe a fire, and watching everything wake up. Since I am an earlier riser everybody else gets reheated coffee. We have tried some other products, but nothing is like camp coffee in a percolator, until I received Wildland Coffee.

The Coffee
Wildland Coffee is coffee on the go. The coffee comes in cute little packets and inside is a single-serve coffee (tea) bag. They believe in living a different kind of life, making sure our coffee joins us in that experience. This is no instant coffee; they use roasted coffee beans from Brazil.
This company is concerned about the environment, so the coffee is traceable, and the bag and coffee are compostable. The bags are kept fresh due to a Nitro flush as they are put into their pouches. This process replaces oxygen with nitrogen delaying the oxidation process and keeping it shelf-stable for a long time. Now that you had your science lesson for the day, let’s get back to coffee!
The coffee is available in medium, dark, and extra dark roast to appeal to all of your camping tastes. No more drinking the sludge at the bottom of the pot because you slept in. Heat 8 oz. of water to almost a boil, pour into a cup, select your roast, pop it in the cup….and wait. The magic happens on its own. No more watching the percolator to ensure it does not boil over, not that I let that happen, often.
Ordering
How do you get this morning joy in a cup? Check out their website and make sure to watch the video, I loved it!
My recommendation would be to order the variety pack for $9.99. They will send you 1 of each of the different roast options. If you live in the USA, shipping is free. The more you buy the cheaper it gets. Starting with a 10 box for $23.49, a 40 box for $64.00, and an 80 box for $99.99.
If you have decided this will be part of your lifestyle, you can sign up for the subscription plan and receive a 40 box once a month for $57.60 a month. If you are a big fan of this coffee sign up to become an ambassador. All you need to do is post once a month about their theme and Wildland Coffee. All orders are shipped from California.
My Experience
I have to admit that I put off this experience a little too long. Coffee is a “big” thing to me, and I wanted to make sure I lived differently when I experienced it. The time finally came that I was on a solo trip and making a large pot of coffee just didn’t make sense. I put my water on to heat, poured it into my cup with the coffee bag, and waited. I will admit it was better than the Folgers we bring on some trips. It was actually very good.
In my second round, I experimented a little. Eight ounces of coffee doesn’t go very far on my camping mornings, so I added more water. It was still very good. I would say that their product is at its best at eight ounces, but if you want to extend the enjoyment just a bit more without a loss of taste, you can add a bit more water. I also realized that covering my cup while it steeped kept my coffee at a better temperature when it was time to drink.
Wildland Coffee: My review
At first, I was a little concerned about the cost. Purchasing the smallest box, you would pay about $2.34 per 8 oz cup. Can you make coffee cheaper? Sure. Looking at the convenience this product brings can make having the bags on hand worth it.
Last weekend I stayed in a hotel, ran down to get a cup of coffee, and poured it out. I proceeded to get dressed and leave the hotel for my coffee. If I had brought this with me, I would have had good coffee by the time I returned to my room for about the same price.
The other part is how little you need to make coffee. No percolator needed, no clean-up after. The coffee tastes very similar to a coffee made with a French press or pour-over method. My final review is that this is a great product to have on hand for camping trips you don’t want to pack a lot for traveling, and a great cup of coffee on a day trip. If I remind myself that I don’t need a lot of a good thing, this could easily change my day, and if I need 2, that’s still ok.

We would love to hear from you and head over to our dedicated page for more reviews from Pauline Alba and other outdoor product and experiences reviewers.
Pauline Alba loves to find adventures! Pauline has split her career between teaching and working for a non-profit in the fitness area. For fun she volunteers for a local animal rescue, teaching water exercise and water safety courses, plans trips to fun places, and plays with her two large dogs.
Her adventures tend to include camping, hiking, meeting people she doesn’t know, kayaking, or just lying under the trees! She is always looking for a way to encourage others to explore more outdoors.
If there’s also one thing I can’t take moderately, it’s coffee. I love how this brand is environment-friendly and the fact that the beans are from Brazil makes it trustworthy. I’ll definitely give this a go as I also have this habit of packing my own coffee on trips. Wildland Coffee seems to suit the lifestyle of people who are on the move looking for convenience but not sacrificing good taste.
The Wildland coffee looks like an amazing coffee brand with a larger shelf life. I would definitely go for a variety pack to enjoy the light, medium and dark roasts for a freshly brewed coffee. And the best thing about it is the more you buy the cheaper it gets!
As a coffee ascot I must say that I love the idea of this product!!! Will have to try it in my next trip: thanks for sharing
This sounds like an awesome option for coffee on the go. I hadn’t heard of this and would love to have this for a variety of travel needs.
I don’t think I’d go for that product because despite the convenience it seems to be priced too high for me. however, the idea is great and it could a nice addition to some people’s camping experience
What a great idea, although I’m not sure I like the idea of a Nitro Flush to keep my coffee fresher longer. If I’m completely out of coffee though, this travel coffee bag might be my saviour.
This sounds like something I need to get for my husband when we camp! Out of the two of us he is the only one who likes hot coffee so this would be perfect for him instead of making too much.
I wish Wildland Coffee was around when I still drink caffeinated coffee. It’s really perfect for my camping trips. I like how the bag and the coffee are compostable, and it tastes similar to coffee made with French press or pour-over method.
I’ve never ever tried camping but I’m always looking forward to try it sometime in the future especially now this warmer season, a perfect family getaway bonding. Nice post. Thanks for sharing.
Going camping very soon. Will look into this!
I love that it is camping for women and then it is all about coffee. hahaha, I can’t survive without my coffee so no matter what camping throws at me, if I have my coffee then we are ok.
That would indeed be very convenient. I am.a tea drinker. So I know the convenience of single-serve tea.!
These are definitely convenient for those camping outdoors
This looks like a great coffee! I’ll have to give it a try!
Nothing beats the smell of fresh coffee, bonus if you are heating the water over a campfire! Love that these are roasted beans bagged into single servings. I agree it is a little pricey and I wouldn’t use it daily, but it is a great deal when the alternative is getting dressed and finding a Starbucks!
I would be with you our making coffee over the fire very early in the morning. But I have never tried coffee in a bag before. How great that the Nitro flush process keeps the coffee so fresh. I would definitely order the variety pack to pick the perfect coffee for me. I do tend to be pretty picky about my coffee. Definitely need to check out Wildland Coffee.
I have to say I have never heard of coffee in a tea bag!! It does seem an interesting concept to try though and maybe more convenient for traveling with. I also like that the company is thinking about the environment and making it compostable, it would certainly make me give this brand a go.
This is a wonderful pack to take around during travels, particularly for those who are fond of coffee. I prefer tea but I can relate to the urge to drink such beverages. In fact I am tempted to try this. The packaging definitely deserves a ten out of ten.
I have never tried coffee in a tea bag before, but I do like the concept, especially if it is good coffee. I am not a fan of instant coffee at all. I am actually going to go camping soon for a few days and I will need my morning coffee. I will look into this brand, to see if I can find it in my country.
Wow! This looks like a really great coffee! I’m sure my husband and father would really love this!
The cost is a little high. But for coffee on the go, this is worth it. I have used other coffee bags with mixed results. This one sounds like it’s better than the average.
This sounds great for those that like to drink coffee. It makes it a great option to enjoy when camping.
That’s an interesting concept and faster from having to brew your own coffee and thin it or add more water for volume. I miss coffee drinking, it doesn’t seem to adapt well for my meals lately so I don’t have morning issues but I do miss the smell and taste of coffee. I love the convenience of these bags and seeping them like tea which is my go to lately.
Nnnniiiicccceeeee….this must have been awesome. Thanks for the pointer towards ordering for the variety pack. I’m sure I’ll find one or two of them that I can live with.
I don’t drink coffee but my husband does. We go camping with the Cub Scouts and make the coffee for the pack in a percolator, too. I’ll have to show this to him as another option when we are camping just as a family because that cost would definitely be too much when we are making it for about 30 adults!
This is fantastic! I would definitely use these. I love that I can enjoy it without having to bring along a percolator, and I really love that they’re environmentally friendly.
I would love to have this on my next adventures to wake up to and for my next hiking adventures. Thanks for the review and for sharing your thoughts about it.
Wow! This coffee brand looks absolutely delicious. Plus the packaging is so cool. Such a great find, got to check this out!
