America’s National Park system has so much to offer when it comes to natural beauty. Taking a night to camp overnight in a park is a great way to turn a visit into a magical experience. Some parks are better than others when it comes to visibility when stargazing. These five parks are known for showcasing incredible illuminations at night.

Zapata Falls is a 30-foot waterfall nestled in Colorado’s Sangre De Crisco Mountains. This hidden gem is 20 minutes away from the Great Sand Dunes National Park, and it makes for a great stop on the way to the park. This short hike will only take 30 minutes to an hour out of your day, depending on how long you take to soak in the views. Not only are the falls beautiful, but the hike also boasts incredible views of the San Juan Valley below.

If you only have time for one activity while visiting Canyonlands National Park, check out the Grand Viewpoint Overlook Trail. This 1.8-mile trail boasts the best view of the canyon below. Located at the edge of the Island in the Sky mesa, the trail follows the rim of the canyon, and you will be granted gorgeous, panoramic views for most of your hike. It is easy and accessible for all ages, yet steep enough to get your heart rate up.
