Magical place. Even through photos it is truly breathtaking. I really want to see it one day. Base camp is more than enough
The Everest base camp trek (along with Annapurna base camp) has been on my wish list for a long, long time. It’s the closest we, non-climbers, can go. I hope I will be able to go for it next year.
I had been thinking about Everest Base Camp since when I was little. I love how you describe it as emerald valleys in contrast to colossal ice sheets. Tea experience at a Sherpa house sounds lovely. Climbing is difficult but the views are totally worth it.
They are really beautiful places to go on a camp and I would highly recommend them to anyone!
I wish that I lived closer to this destination. I’d love to visit in person bc I’m sure these photos don’t do it any justice.
I have never once considered this. It’s beyond my scope of ability. However, I am super excited to see such lovely pictures.
Oh wow! This is so interesting, and I’d love to visit the base camp. Although, I’ve never been interested in climbing. I’ve been to Nepal 3x to do mission work and caught a glimpse of the mountains, but of course Everest is a highlight of the range. I do love the hospitality of the Nepali people. Their culture and traditions are so engrained in them and their culture.
You are lucky you had such a great adventure. I love the pictures in your article; the Himalayas are beautiful! Maybe we can visit this trek with our kids one day.
This looks amazing! I love to travel and hike, but our National Forests have nothing on this! I will definitely need to look into visiting. Not climbing Everest, I will leave that to someone else! LOL But I could definitely accomplish a visit to the base camp! The views from the lower elevations are still breathtaking!
It sounds like an amazing experience, I know that this is something that I would never do, But I do know that some of my friends have done this, and they enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing this with us.
That must be an amazing experience! I can’t even imagine the sense of accomplishment you’d get from that.
Thank you for sharing this adventure. Visiting Everest base camp has long been a dream of mine so I enjoyed this article!
All this time, I thought Himalayas is just have a breath taking scenery, but now, I realized that I have a lot of learnings in terms of culture, in the mental and physical well-being. I am looking forward to try this soon.
It would be amazing to see the base camp in person. Such an iconic place! Sounds like an interesting adventure.
I’m grateful for travelers who are more adventurous than I am, because I get to read about their incredible journeys from the warmth of my home. The photos are genuinely awe inspiring, and really showcase the natural beauty that draws so many travelers to Everest. The Sagarmatha National Park really speaks to me with it’s raw beauty and UNESCO recognition.
It seems like there would be a lot of beautiful sights to see were one to go camping on Everest!
Visiting the Himalayas would be a dream come true for me. It is so amazing to know about the Sagarmatha National Park which is also a UNESCO site nestled amongst himalayas. The ice capped mountain and the pristine lake views look so otherworldly. I would love to experience the Sherpa culture and their warm welcome. I totally agree that mental and physical strength is really necessary for the treks in such climatic conditions. It looks difficult to me but I would like to prepare myself to climb Everest. So maybe someday I will also be able to share my story of the Everest expedition.
The Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the epic treks of the world as your wonderful pictures show. It is an accessible and affordable way to experience the Everest area. And it is also more environmentally sustainable than actually climbing the mountain. Meeting and interacting with the sherpas is a great plus.
Thanks do much for vivid descriptions of the breathtaking scenery, the rich Sherpa culture, and the challenges of the trek transported me to the heart of the Himalayas. It’s like taking a mental vacation from the daily hustle!
That very first picture caught me – with the hikers heading towards that gorgeous mountain range. If I ever do get to visit Nepal one day, it would be to capture such impactful pictures hopefully. The reality is its a dream that is hard to realize to get to base camp. It must be amazing to be in such close vicinity to the highest mountain in the world – A good reminder that this is also a mental challenge besides the obvious physical one.
This hike would be amazing to do. The views are so awesome.
Sounds like an amazing journey and I love that they have tea houses to get warmed up and learn about the Sherpa community.
I’d probably never do this trek, but I know many people have. It is lovely to see but I am just too dang lazy, ha.
There are many places that have been on my travel wish list for a long time. Mount Everest is certainly high on that list. Although we may finally have to admit to being too old and unfit to actually visit the Everest Base Camp. The scenery and panoramic views are truly magnificent. It is good to remind people that this will provide both a physical and mental challenge. So amazing that you got to experience this.
I don’t think I will ever climb Everest, so it’s nice to see what to expect from going to the base camp. I know a lot of people train very hard for it, and for the challenges of the trek. It must be amazing to see Everest in front of you. But I also know it’s very, very hard and not everyone makes it. The hospitality of the sherpas sounds like something I would love to experience. I climbed other mountains before and experienced the kindness of helpfulness of the guides and porters.
