I totally agree with this – I always feel most at peace and happy when I’m in nature, and going for hikes (or skiing in the winter) is probably the most effective stress relief for me. Unfortunately we don’t have many options by way of being outdoors here in Chicago, but we are planning on moving to the PNW next year so we can be closer to all of that!

I think that it makes sense that being outdoors is good for your health. There are some places near me in Upstate NY where people would go to be healthier. While a lot of those older places were related to respiratory issues, it really does something for your health..

I think that going outside is one of the biggest healers for me. Often, when I’m inside, I’m too focused on any pain that I have, but when I have something fun and different to look at, I feel so much more refreshed.

I had a surgery once and only had one week rest before going back to work. But like you suggested, I am more careful in my food intake. Having a healthy diet definitely helps. I wish I spent more time in nature though. It is not too late now, is it?

I really enjoyed your article on spending time outdoors when healing from a medical procedure. I really could not agree more. I have been saying this for years and I am so happy to know that others feel the same. There is just something about being out in nature when you’re healing.. From anything. A procedure, depression, addiction.. The outdoors really grounds you and heals you.

That is most definitely true. The kind of relaxation that outdoors and nature gives is so tremendous that it can really help recover from, may it be physical or mental illness. Fresh and healthy food is also so very necessary, esp., in this age of junk & fast food.

If I could, I would want to live in a property with large open spaces that will allow me a fantastic view of nature. I could camp out everyday and watch the stars at night. Truly relaxing and healing.

There is nothing better than being outside in nature to recover. My ‘go to place’ is beside a lake or an ocean, just being there puts me on a natural high. I totally agree with you for a fast medical recovery head outdoors.

Camping and hiking have also been a cornerstone in my health journey. I find that the more time I spend outdoors the more relaxed and more confident that I can cope with anything that life hands me. All the reasons that you listed are truly things that I’ve witnessed. It’s incredible how much the great outdoors can impact your life and really instills a sense of wellness and wholeness. I would argue though that camping does entice me to indulge in a few more s’mores than I should, ha!

I too believe that being outdoors makes us recover more faster. Stress Relieving and mindful exercising is the main benefit of outdoor camping. Natural vitamin input is another benefit which we should also consider. Nowadays people remain indoors and therefore they are deficient in many vitamins though they eat healthy foods. Thanks for sharing wonderful details.
