How To Be Cozy On the Go – The Mozy

The Mozy Cool Patch
Cool Patch

There are many reasons I love living in Minnesota, one is that I could probably list wrapping up in a blanket as a favorite hobby and Minnesota’s climate means that many days are blanket days. I was intrigued when asked to review the Mozy, which is a wearable blanket designed to be worn outdoors and allow mobility. Is it a blanket that I could actually wear camping or would it prove to be the same hassle as trying to bring a blanket outdoors?

The Mozy arrived in a beautiful package that showed the care taken in designing a product designed for comfort. When I unpacked it I was thrilled to see that I had a patch designed just for the outdoors. I was working from home in my unbelievable cold basement and threw it around my waist right way. I fell in love as it took away the chill and started daydreaming of all the places I could now be cozy and warm.

What is a Mozy?

The Mozy, named by combining mobile and cozy, is a wearable blanket made to be worn outdoors. It is designed for comfort, mobility, and warmth. The inside is made of soft Polartec fleece with a water-resistant and windproof outer shell. What makes the Mozy wearable is the velcro closure that allows it to easily adjust to your size and elastic at the waist, middle, and bottom to hold the fabric close to your legs while still allowing the flexibility to move. The Mozy comes in three sizes, small, medium, and large, based on waist size. Each size accommodates a wide range of waists.

How did it work?

Even great to sit on - The Mozy
Great to sit on

I received a medium to try out for this review. My waist is towards the top of the medium size range and I have substantial hips and thighs that often make trying anything on my lower body a bit of a nightmare, yet I found it very comfortable. I am 5’ 6” and found it came just above my ankles, a nice length to keep it off the ground. My son was 6’ 3” last we checked and a string bean, he also found the medium very comfortable and could adjust it to fit his waist well.

My son’s first reaction to it was “why wouldn’t you just wear snow pants?” Then he realized the ease in taking it on and off and adjusting it to accommodate different temperatures as well as how extremely cozy the Mozy is. He did steal it from me one morning when he went out turkey hunting. He loved how easy it was to use, that it kept him dry and warm, but found it was too loud for hunting. The Mozy is not an alternative to snow pants for active situations but it is great for those times you will be primarily stationary but need the ability to easily move. It has easy to use velcro that allows you to either just open the bottom for walking or even tack the bottom up and out of the way of your legs.

My first thoughts on the design were that I would totally wear it camping and on my back deck but didn’t know that I would not feel self-conscious in other situations. The next day as I got up to bring my puppy out to the front yard I realized it looked a whole lot less silly than my PJ pants did. As I threw it on I  noticed the large pockets on the front and realized my travel mug fit perfectly in one pocket and my phone fit in the other.

Not only was I warm, but my pj’s were disguised, I could bring my coffee and phone with me and keep my hands free to deal with the pup. I actually found it pretty easy to move in even with the bottom closed.

I keep it hanging right by my door so I can grab it anytime now and it has been wonderful for spending time outdoors this spring whether just watching the puppy play, reading outdoors on those “almost warm enough” days, and sitting around the campfire.

Do I Recommend It?

Do you get cold? Then yes, I recommend the Mozy. I will definitely utilize it for camping, outdoor events, and just spending time in my backyard. When camping I love to grab my dog and my coffee and head out for a walk while watching the sunrise early in the morning. The Mozy will make this so much more comfortable. As far as looking goofy, it’s really not that bad, who doesn’t want to be a mermaid? The more I think about how I will use the Mozy the more uses I see for it. I will be using it for those beach trips when there is no place to change out of my wet suit, cold camping mornings and evenings, and just expanding the temperature range where I can comfortably sit outdoors.

Now this is something I can use! I’m constantly cold, even in moderate temperatures. This sounds perfect for sitting in front of a campfire in the evening, just to keep the chill down. It is good to know that it isn’t good for hunting or times when you want to stay quiet. I’m glad you covered that!

That’s a really interesting product. I don’t care if I would look goofy to be honest. When I’m cold I just want something to keep me warm and comfortable.

Never heard of it but I want to try it. The cons are not really bad for me: I love feeling mermaid and definitely don’t mind a little noise.

This is awesome. I am typing this sitting by my radiator, wrapped in a cozy blanket – in May! London weather is unpredictable.
I love how the Mozy has pockets, that is definitely very useful and something missing from a lot of clothes.

This is the first time I heard about “Mozy” and it’s convenient and innovative. I think this would be useful in my spontaneous trips. I love to do trips without any hesitation so I think this would be very handy during one. Thanks for letting me know about this product.

I would think it would make a great Father’s Day gift if it ships on time. The outside is windproof nylon like a winter jacket and the inside is a super soft fleece.

I would love to have this for camping or backyard bonfires, but I probably wouldn’t wear it out in public. But then, if I am wearing it at camp, that is what it was meant for. I think it would be awesome. Thank you for an honest review.

You had me at pockets! I really like that the exterior is water-resistant and windproof–it probably wouldn’t pick up debris like a outer fleece layer would. I could see myself using something like this, sitting about a campfire on a cold morning.

Yes, the pockets really got me. The fabric is great. Our pup is 4 months old and still learning not to jump. It saved my pants from muddy paws several times.

My wife would absolutely love this! For Christmas this year my daughter got her a throwbie which is like a blanket/poncho (with a hole for your head and holes for your arms) and she uses it all the time. I could totally see this being the replacement for her especially sitting on the football field in the fall. I am definitely saving this link.
