Nomad Nutrition REVdry Meals are definitely an easy and tasty solution when out on the trails.

Good tasting and good for you, easy to prepare, lightweight meals for outdoor activities like backpacking can be hard to come by, in my opinion. I am not a fan of your typical dehydrated meal… I was recently introduced to Nomad Nutrition REVdry Meals, ”food for the modern wanderer”.

Nomad makes delicious and energy-packed meals for all types of adventure lovers using the REVdry process. β€œThis uses more efficient low-temperature drying, that is rapid, removes 98% of moisture and locks in the nutrients, taste, smell and texture of the food. This is revolutionary drying technology because no chemicals, no preservatives, and no artificial colors are required to prepare the meals.”

I was very impressed to learn about their process and am excited to try all the varieties. β€œBorn in the mountain ranges of British Columbia, Canada, Nomad Nutrition is the culmination of a lifelong pursuit of wild places and good food.” (www.nomadnutrition.co) Founder Denis Mikhailov realized that it is possible to make dehydrated food that tastes good and is good for you. Nomad Nutrition believes in healthy meals for hikers, backpackers, climbers and more. They β€œstrive to provide you with the highest quality ingredients and optimized nutrition to feed your adventure.”

The four varieties of meals available are Kathamandu Curry, Irish Shepard’s Pie, Indian Red Lentil Stew, and Hungarian Goulash. These meals are designed to keep you fueled for all your outdoor adventures. They are packed with nutrient dense calories, lean protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats. Nomad offers organic, non-GMO, whole food ingredients. All their meals are gluten free, with vegan and paleo options available (www.nomadnutrition.co). While the meals are designed for athletes, they are perfect for anyone who values healthy, easy on the go meals.

For this review I tried the Hungarian Goulash. It is a tasty mix of real potatoes, kidney beans, onions, red peppers, carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms, olive oil and spices. This meal has 20 grams of protein and 600 calories. The meal was very easy to prepare. You cook it right in the pouch. All you need is one cup of boiling hot water. This is what makes it so convenient for on the go adventures. You open up the pouch, pour in the water and then seal the pouch back up. It takes about 7-10 minutes for the meals to cook. I shook my pouch around just to test it out and I had no leaks. It held up very well during the cooking. Even after being in my hiking bag for a couple weeks.

To eat, I did empty my pouch into a bowl. I topped with some fresh cheese crumbles. The meals are perfect to eat right out of the pouch though! The Goulash had great flavor and great texture. I am very picky about my veggies, and these came out much better than any dehydrated meal I have had in the past. The serving size was just the right amount for me after a long day of hiking around the desert of Moab. The meal was very satisfying. I can definingly see myself taking Nomad meals backpacking, camping, or even to the office to eat for lunch on a busy workday. Nomad meals are a product that I would recommend are worth a try for sure.

This looks a brilliant and innovative way to have great nutrition when you are hiking. I would love to try the Lentils. As I am not a hiker I had not really thought too much about food but I understand how important it is to get the right food.

I’m not much of a camper, but I always like to hear about camping supplies. My hubby is a prepper and these kinds of things would be perfect for our bug out box!
