To be honest, I prefer glamping over camping. But a motorcycle camping takes it to another level. Your tips on checking the motorcycle before you go is so important. A lot of people forget to do that and they end up with some road mishaps which could ruin everything!

Great round-up on all the basics to cover! I have actually never been on a motorbike, but I’ve always wanted to ride along the Amalfi coast on a moped. (Definitely not the same thing, but that’s about as adventurous as I get :P) Do you have any packing tips for bringing camping gear along with you on your bike?

      Hey Deni!

The most important tip to remember is you need to pack light. So any camping gear you want to bring should be light wait and be able to fold up. Happy Camping 🙂

Some important tips for both men and women here. I planned a route through the US and had to change it at the last minute because of a forest fire and smoke blocking the road. I can imagine flash floods often cause a change of route, especially when traveling by motorcycle!

This looks like a lot of fun! I actually have never been on a bike or a motorcycle, so I don’t know much about it. I always think motorcycles look so glamorous. And it makes sense that having the right equipment is important too.

Gotta have the basics covered! I’d be interested to know what kind of gear you take for camping. What fits on the bike, what kind of snacks, etc. How much gear can you get on a bike? I bet roadtripping with a motorcycle and then camping is one of the best feelings of freedom you can get!

Hi Jessica! It really depends on what kind of storage you have. Most motorcycles are limited to carrying a couple small saddlebags so if you want to carry anything else it’s best to use a backpack or install a luggage rack over the back wheel. And obviously the smaller the better. Compact tents, sleeping bags, etc, really help with the space issue. Hope that helps!

This is such a thoughtfully written post. Though I have camped a lot previously but it never occurred to me that the experience might be different for a woman. It is good you wrote those points. I agree with you. There is lot you need to take care of even before the trip begins.

WOW. Motorcycle camping! I wish I could ride because this seriously fills me with road envy. I’ve tried before but balancing on a scooter was not my most best instincts so I think I’d have to stick to cars for life. But wow, very interesting article, would definitely love to know more!
