With my disability, I have had to learn very quickly the importance of being free to pee. Quite often I find disabled facilities lacking in many areas so a few years ago I began looking into STP devices. STP Stands for Stand to Pee although with my use that doesn’t necessarily mean I have to stand.
Some of the devices on the market are internal. A little-known fact about the bladder is that its own system is very sensitive and is not good with coping with foreign bodies and is very susceptible to infection. I have used catheters for a few years now but sometimes if I’m not in retention I enjoy the satisfaction of relieving my self naturally. Catheters take that simple basic satisfaction from you!
Other STP devices on the market are external and are like a shaped funnel, the bad thing about them is they are very prone to leaking, If you’re in public taking it out to clean and putting it on to use then washing can be cumbersome and it’s not the nicest experience to have one of them knocking around in your bag.
The Spouti takes inspiration from both Internal and external devices in the best way possible. It can be worn long term so if you were to fit it in the morning you should still have use of it come mid-day with a little adjustment perhaps. This means you only need to take the tube out of your pants and direct it at the toilet, urinate and shake it off. The funnel system is unlike any other I’ve come across as it presses directly against the urethra between the labia but the soft silicone is not uncomfortable as you would imagine it to be. I’ve had it in place while driving around on my mobility scooter and whilst it was there, I experienced no chafing, rubbing or anything like that.
If you wish you could use a drop of lube to help prevent rubbing but I found that caused it to slip out of place and was unnecessary. It can take a few attempts to get right but once you work out how to fit it, placement becomes easy.

I’m not gonna be – THAT – guy, but I just needed to make sure everyone knew this product was designed by a transgender man and was originally designed for transgender men. But due to its popularity, it is now marketed towards AFAB people (assigned female at birth).
Thank you so much for this review it’s really helpful, I just ask that when describing it, you don’t just specify that it’s for women, I ask that because it really alienates anyone else who could use this device.

This is very beneficial for women, not only for those who have a disability. Well, it’s very recommended for those who have problems utilizing public bathrooms. It’s great to have this option. For sure, once we try this and we get comfortable, it would really be life-changing.
I didn’t even know anything like this existed. I can see myself using it for camping/hiking in more backwoods areas (we live near the rocky mountains). Brilliant invention!
For me, this would be amazing in public bathrooms. With the Coronavirus going around, many public bathrooms are closed, especially in parks and outdoor places. Instead they’ve put in portable bathrooms (ewwwww!) and my inner germaphobe just says no. This would make using those more tolerable because I’m not touching any surfaces inside.
It’s a great device I’ve sent one to a disabled friend of mine and it’s made going to the toilet so much easier for her. she no longer has to find a toilet with a hoist!
Temporary toilets ARE SO inaccessible for me.

That sounds like a really useful product, much better than most others out there. This post reminds me of when I was really young and went to a camping shop with my mother. There was this disposable product called ‘Urinella’, basically paper tubes that you could use for this purpose. We had a good laugh about it, being in my early teens I found it quite hilarious.
This looks like a great alternative for those that are looking for a better option than those funnel style devices. I can’t imagine trying to carry one of those around all the time – they aren’t exactly handbag friendly, right? I never would have thought of giving urine samples, but this would make it SO much easier! That’s a process that unnecessarily messy for everyone lol

I have never heard of anything like this. What a great idea! I remember hating that aspect of camping in the wild with no restroom facilities. This would make it more bearable.

I have never heard of STPs before and I think that the Spouti is a clever invention. The product is amazing especially if you don’t like using public toilets.
I think this might be the most ingenious product I’ve seen in a long time. I love that it makes it so easy to go potty on a camping trip or even to give urine samples with no mess.
